The 7 STEPS
Green Main | Going Green | The 7 Steps | Formaldehyde Facts

1. Carbon Footprint

A carbon footprint is the measure of the environmental impact of a particular individual or organization's lifestyle or operation, measured in units of carbon dioxide over the course of a year. Eurodesign lowers its footprint by:

• Using smaller more fuel efficient delivery trucks.
• Using two Regenerative Thermo Oxidizers that remove almost all VOCs from the finishing operation.
• Purchase Energy Star efficient electric motors, 398 motors total.
• Replace HID lighting with all florescent lighting in 200,000 sq. ft. factory.

2. Supply Chain

We ask all businesses we purchase from to ensure that they are doing all they can to minimize their environmental impact. We select suppliers who:

• Have environmental management systems.
• Are continuously improving their environmental performance.
• Do not exploit the environment or their employees.

3. Recycling

Recycling is the oldest of all the green programs. So many of today’s consumables can be reused or recycled into new products. Everything from paper to glass to metals to electronics can be recycled. A few of Eurodesign’s efforts are:

• Recycle 62,500 cubic feet of cardboard annually.
• All wood byproduct recycled, 380,000 cubic feet annually.
• Recognized by the City of Chino and the State of California for our recycling programs.

4. Efficiency

Efficiency and green go hand in hand. Eurodesign follows the lean manufacturing method. We only produce what is needed when it is needed. This allows us to streamline processes and maximize the yields from our raw materials by using:

• Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines that maximize yields from solid lumber.
• CNC panel saws and state of the art optimizing software to maximize yields from all panels.
• Veneers and other natural products to maximize yields from solid wood.
• Coating applied by robots for better results with less waste.

5. Education

The green knowledge does not come easily or naturally to most people. How to recycle, be efficient and make a difference must be known by everyone within Eurodesign if we are to be successful. Eurodesign supports:

• A green committee which oversees our efforts and makes recommendations.
• Educating employees on specific green programs.
• Feedback on success of all green programs.

6. Collaboration

Eurodesign partners with many municipalities and agencies to improve our green footprint. From water to the air, Eurodesign has a program in place to minimize our impact on the environment some of which include:

• All process water is recycled as approved by the California Environmental Protection Agency.
• Waste normally sent to the landfill reduced by 66%, as observed by the City of Chino.
• Storm water runoff is certified clean as required and monitored by the Chino Water Basin.
• Ultra low VOC emissions from RTOs as monitored by the AQMD.

7. Waste Elimination

Better than recycling, elimination- don’t generate it in the first place. This is much easier said than done. Eurodesign examines every opportunity to eliminate waste; often this involves the use of technology and an investment by Eurodesign. Some of the investments recently have been:

• Stain recirculation and recovery system which eliminates 13,000 gallons of waste water annually.
• Catalyzed Varnish automated mix-on-demand system which eliminates 6800 gallons of waste annually.
• Electronic documents storage which eliminates 300,000 sheets of paper annually.
